vivo X70 series now in Malaysia on preorder from RM2,499 with free gifts

The camera-centric vivo X70 series has been launched in Malaysia with preorders commencing on 22nd September all the way to 1st October 2021 with a slew of free gifts thrown in for good measure.

More astute readers will note that the vivo X70 series are actually a triumvirate of phones when they first debuted in China on 9th September that consist of the X70, X70 Pro and X70 Pro+.

Out of this trio, the vivo X70 and X70 Pro are slated for deployment in Malaysia though the most powerful phone in the series, the vivo X70 Pro+ will not be making an official appearance here.

What is the vivo X70 Pro

The vivo X70 Pro version for Malaysia features a 6.56-inch 120Hz AMOLED display with a 240Hz sampling rate and 1,300nits peak brightness.

Under the hood, the vivo X70 Pro features 12GB RAM and 256GB of storage while running the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 processor built on a 6nm process. The Dimensity 1200 SoC version used by vivo here is apparently a custom job that is rated to be 10% more power efficient and offer 40% better AI performance than a stock chip. Keeping the vivo X70 Pro powered is a 4,450mAh battery.

On the rear, the vivo X70 Pro comes with a quad camera array that is built around a main 50MP camera with vivo’s own gimbal stabilisation tech and a Sony IMX766V sensor, a 12MP ultrawide angle camera, a 12MP camera with 2x optical zoom and an 8MP camera with 5x optical zoom. vivo has also collaborated with ZEISS and have lenses coated with the optic brand’s own ZEISS T* coating to minimise aberrations, glare and reflections.

The more mainstream vivo X70 has a flat 6.56-inch 120Hz AMOLED Display, uses the same custom MediaTek Dimensity 1200 processor but has a more modest 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage while the battery is a slightly smaller 4,400mAh. The rear consists of a triple camera array with a 40MP camera using a Sony IMX766V sensor also coated with ZEISS T* on the lenses, a 12MP camera with 2x optical zoom and a 12MP ultrawide angle camera.

In terms of pricing the vivo X 70 retails for RM2,499 while the X70 Pro retails for RM3,299 with both available for preorder until 1st October and at vivo’s online estore and other authorised dealers.
