Asus Malaysia aims to help you stretch your dollar as much as possible and their latest notebooks the VivoBook Ultra A512, A412 as well as the durable VivoBook Ultra K403 that were launched today in a rather quaint fashion show aim to blend exceptional affordability with 8th gen Intel Core processors, solid state drives and large displays.
The VivoBook Ultra A512 and A412 notebooks will come in four different colours with the notable additions on top of the obligatory silver, gray and blue being a novel looking burnt orange finish. There’s some cost savings here in that the range is primarily made of polycarbonate so they tend to be a bit on the chunky side though they all bear decent specifications for what you pay for.
The VivoBook Ultra A512 comes with a 15.6-inch FullHD NanoEdge display with super slim bezels on the side to maximise the display size. This is paired up with an Intel Core i5-8265U processor, 4GB RAM and a 256GB PCIe SSD. The notebooks also manage to cram in an NVIDIA GeForce MX250 graphics solution which gives it a bit ommph.
Other mod-cons include a full sized backlit keyboard that includes a numeric keypad and a generous variety of ports that include a HDMI 1.4 port and a USB Type C port too. The VivoBook Ultra A412 is virtually identical to the A512 save for a slightly smaller 14-inch Full HD NanoEdge display and a more compact keyboard that eschews a full numeric keypad for a direction pad.
The VivoBook Ultra K403 is an interesting offering in that it prioritises battery life and durability. To that end it touts a whopping 24 hours of battery life before needing a recharge and is rated for MIL-STD0810G levels of durability against drops, dings and dents. The notebook comes with a 14-inch Full HD NanoEdge display, your choice of either an Intel Core i3-8145U or i5-8265U CPU, 8GB DDR3 RAM and a 512GB SSD. Keeping the lights on is a massive 72Wh 4-cell lithium polymer battery.
