Samsung Unbox and Discover event reveals Neo QLED 8K TVs line-up and more for 2022

The live streamed Samsung Unbox and Discover event showcased their latest range of Neo QLED 8K TVs, soundbars and more that aim to take the concept of immersive home entertainment to new heights.

While the traditional role of a TV is to act as a passive entertainment device by watching other content on it, Samsung aims to elevate their Neo QLED 8K to new heights, allowing it to act as a highly connected, deeply personalised hub for users not just to watch the latest season of Picard but to also interact with other connected Samsung devices and the user too.

Samsung Neo QLED 8K TV upgrades – What’s new?

The new Samsung Neo QLED 8K 2022 line-up comes in multiple screen sizes depending on how palatial your home is and run their Smart Hub user interface powered by Tizen under the hood.

The key differentiator compared to the competition here are their ultra precise and potent Quantum Mini LEDs that are able to offer pinpoint precise blacks and brilliant whites without it bleeding over that Samsung has dubbed as ‘Shape Adaptive Light Control’. 

Samsung has also tackled the classic problem of ambient light affecting viewing quality and have implemented AI to automatically adjust brightness and colour temperature of the QLED 2022 displays in order to ensure optimum viewing regardless of how light or dark the room is.

This emphasis on authentic image and colour reproduction doesn’t just stop there as the new 2022 QLED line-up are Pantone validated, which ensures faithful colour accuracy while a ‘Real Depth Enhancer’ feature emulates how the human eye perceives images by enhancing contrast and detail in an object in the foreground while leaving the background untouched.

Even the Samsung Neo QLED 8K 2022 series acoustics have been tuned up as the TV’s Neural Quantum Processor 8K AI checks what’s happening onscreen and employs ‘Adaptive’ Sound to mimic positional audio. In the top of the line Neo QLED 8K QN900B, you get the added bonus of a massive 90W 6.2.4 channel audio system along with their Dolby Atmos with Object Tracking Sound Pro support while the rest of their range including the more mainline Neo QLED 4K and other Neo QLED 8K TVs get Wireless Dolby Atmos support.

The new line-up will also feature a variety of additional accessories including the usual slim fit wall mounts, a studio stand and, of note, a rather nifty Auto Rotation accessory that lets a Neo QLED 8K TV rotate vertically; a quality that only the earlier Sero was able to perform unaided on its own.

Samsung Neo QLED 8K TV price and launch in Malaysia

There’s no official word on the launch of the Samsung Neo QLED 8K TV series in Malaysia just yet, what sizes they will come in, what accessories they will come with, any preorder specials and, more importantly, how much they’ll cost but seeing the traditional tempo of operations, it will likely be in the near future.
