[Review] HTC 10 – Is it a perfect ten?

Battery Life & Conclusion
The HTC 10’s internal 3,000mAh battery is juiced up via a USB Type C port and offers slightly improved battery life compared to its predecessor the One M9+ that had a smaller 2,840mAh battery. This is balanced by the slightly larger display though Android Marshmallow also does a fine job of optimising battery life.

In the field with standard usage that encompassed video watching, web browsing, e-mails and all-day social media usage, the HTC 10 easily lasted through a whole day with a bit extra after sundown. Compared to other flagships, it has relatively similar endurance given similar usage patterns across competing devices. While the battery is, alas, non-removable, the HTC 10’s Quick Charge support helps you top up the battery with just a 30 minute quick charge to 50% capacity so it’s quite a trouper. If things go south and you’re running on fumes, you can fire up an extreme power saving mode that dials the processor down and keeps all but the most basic apps running to double remaining battery life. This is handy if you have to eke a few hours before you need a charge though it is rather restrictive as what you have access to is limited to the bare basics – making calls, texts, e-mails, access to your calendar and a calculator.

All said, this is HTC’s best phone ever made with a solid set of hardware from within and without. There’s a few admittedly minor quibbles here and there but the HTC 10 delivers in a competent fashion on all fronts. If you’re looking for an unconventional choice for a flagship phone, the HTC 10 won’t let you down.

WHAT WE LOVE Fast charging, exceptional build quality, excellent audio quality, superb selfie camera, great rear camera
WHAT WE DIDN’T Not water resistant, lacks hybrid SIM slot, internal speakers aren’t very loud
WHAT WE SAY Exquisitely designed with excellent hardware both within and without, the HTC 10 is a highly worthy choice if you’re seeking distinctively good looks and performance in equal measure
