Perodua sells 99,700 vehicles in first half of 2017 and on target to achieve 202,000 vehicles sold this year

Perodua has been enjoying a productive year so far as they have announced today that they have sold 99,700 vehicles in the first half of 2017 with the Perodua Axia being the most popular model being sold.

In terms of models sold, the Malaysian marque stated that all their Perodua models were currently best sellers in their respective categories. Of the 99,700 Perodua cars sold in 2017, the Axia made up a healthy 32,600 units sold, the Bezza sold 28,300 units, the Myvi sold 24,000 units and the Alza sold 14,700 units.

Overall performance is encouraging with the 99,700 vehicles sold in the first half of 2017 representing an increase of 2.4% compared to 2016 which sold 97,400 vehicles in the same time period. This puts Perodua well on the way to achieving their overall 2017 sales target of 202,000 vehicles sold despite the challenging economic conditions.

“Based on our internal estimation, the total industry volume (TIV) from January to June this year would reach 284,200 vehicles, which means that Perodua’s market share will be around 35.1% so far this year,” said Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh.

“We are cautiously optimistic of achieving our initial sales target of 202,000 this year,” he added. For 2017, Perodua will emphasise on their current model line-up with more attractive promotions for buyers such as the Myvi 12-year anniversary campaign which offers a cash prize of up to RM12,000.
