Only 10,000 units of the Oppo Ace2 Evangelion limited edition phone exist – take our money!
The Neon Genesis Evangelion series from Studio Gainax remains one of the cornerstones of sci-fi anime with a following in the millions and a multimedia empire that sees the show and its characters plastered on everything from soda cans to video games. Now, Oppo has taken the next logical step and have created a special limited edition OPPO Reno Ace2 exclusively for the China market.

Based on a recent post on Weibo, the OPPO Ace2 Evangelion edition is a fans’ dream come true with unique packaging, a unique design and basically every aspect of it tweaked to make any fan keel over in paroxysms of joy. The OPPO Reno Ace2 itself is kitted out in EVA Unit-01’s signature purple and neon green livery with black trim at strategic points.
Under the hood, the OPPO A2 has a Snapdragon 865 chip which marks it as a flagship-grade phone; no surprise seeing its prestigious pedigree, 8GB LPDDR5 RAM, 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage, a vibrant 90Hz display and a 4,000mAh battery with 65W fast charging support. Even the software has been tweaked with Evangelion themed wallpapers.
All this is crammed into a very unique casing that resembles an EVA Entry Plug, the so-called cockpits used to drive these multi-storey machines along with a charger and cable done up in NERV livery, wired headphones and as a very impressive touch – a miniature Spear of Longinus SIM card ejector. Just don’t go flinging it at supernatural entities, mind. I don’t think it’ll actually take anything out at this size and scale.
All this magnificence will cost you a surprisingly fair CNY4,399 which is about RM2,676. One problem though – it’s an exclusive available only for the China market and there are only 10,000 of these babies running around so if you want one, you’ll have to source the secondary gray market to get one.
OPPO Watch x Evangelion
It gets even better. If you’re particularly well heeled, OPPO is also issuing a jaw droppingly gorgeous OPPO Watch done up in EVA Unit-02’s red and black colour scheme with Asuka’s face smirking at you as screen wallpaper.
All this is wrapped up in a box with EVA-02 in mid-stride about to curb stomp something into goo. This sleek looking OPPO Watch will cost you CNY2,199 which is about RM1,338. And yes, there’s only 10,000 of them running around.
OPPO Enco W31 x Evangelion
Last but not least, OPPO has also issued a unique version of their Enco W31 wireless headphones. They’re functionally identical to a stock unit but have Ayanami Rei’s distinctive white and blue livery on the headphones and a pre-upgrade EVA-00 emblem in burnt yellow on the casing.
The packaging is equally eye-catching with a yellow Unit 0 on the cover. This unique Enco W31 variant retails for CNY 399 which is about RM273. And yes, like the rest there’s only 10,000 of them puttering about.
You can admire these exquisite offerings on the official OPPO China store here but you’ll need to be fairly creative (or resourceful) to get a unit (get it!, er…we’ll stop now) over to our shores and there’ll likely be a hefty markup for shipping and other associated fees. All of the above devices will be available in China starting today on June 1st. There’s also a unique charging pad done up in NERV livery too for CNY299 which is about RM180 but there’s only 5,000 of these babies running around in circulation.
