One of Kia’s most anticipated rides is finally here in Malaysia and what a ride it is. The Kia Stinger is designed and inspired by the concept of being a bona fide gran turismo sports sedan and it aims to do so with a trifecta of speed, performance and comfort in every aspect of its design and specifications.

Externally, the Kia Stinger sports a distinctively eye-catching silhouette with sleek aerodynamic lines, recessed contours along the doors as well as a slightly tapered rear body, all of which are designed to ensure superb aerodynamics when on the road. Up front, the Stinger sports Kia’s distinctive ‘tiger-nose’ grilles flanked by full LED headlamps and a manly-looking, dark-chromed grille. To wit, the Stinger’s fetching good looks snagged it the EyesOn Design Award for Production Car Design Excellence at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in 2017; quite an achievement that.

To complete the picture, both the front and rear come with circular vents while the cabin itself sports your choice of either Nappa leather or natural leather depending on variant with 8-way power driver seats and 4-way mechanical lumbar support. The Kia Stinger also sports a 15-speaker Harman Kardon speaker system for some serious sound.

In terms of engine options, the Kia Stinger has your choice of either a 2.0L twin-scroll turbocharged four-cylinder Theta II T-GDI engine with 251hp@6,200rpm with 353Nm of torque from 1,400 – 4,00rpm that can to go from 0 to 100km/h in under six seconds. Things get ramped up considerably with the 3.3L twin-turbo V6 Lamba T-GDI engine variant which has the ability to go from zero to 100km/h in just 4.9 seconds and has 365hp@6,000rpm with 510Nm of torque from 1,300 – 4,500rpm. Fast? Heck yeah.

For Malaysia, Kia is shipping in two variants of the Kia Stinger, with the  3.3l V6 GT retailing for RM309,888 on the road sans insurance while the 2.0l GT-line retails for RM239,888 on the road without insurance. Both variants come in your choice of HiChroma Red, Deep Chroma Blue, Panthera Metal and Aurora Black.
