Huawei nova 8 with fast 90Hz display, 66W fast charging coming to Malaysia this 27 August

Huawei Malaysia has announced another midrange addition to their current smartphone lineup dubbed the nova 8 that will arrive in Malaysia this 27th August.

The Huawei nova 8 comes with a 6.57-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 90Hz refresh, runs their EMUI 12 under the hood on a 7nm Kirin 820E processor paired with 8GB RAM and has either 128GB or 256GB of non-expandable storage.

As you’d surmise from the use of EMUI 12, the nova 8 lacks access to Google services and their Play store and instead relies on their own AppGallery for applications and side loading.

On the rear, the phone has a quad camera array built around a primary 64MP F/1.9 camera with PDAF, a secondary 8MP ultra wide angle camera, a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro camera. Up front, the phone has a 32MP selfie camera which ought to ensure video calls and portraits are a treat.

Connectivity for this particular version is capped at 4G LTE, WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5 with the phone’s 3,800mAh battery offering fast 66W SuperCharge charging tech that’s capable of offering a 60% charge in 15 minutes and a full charge in 35 minutes.

A China only variant does exist with a 5G-capable Kirin 985 processor but it doesn’t look like that variant is the one slated for deployment here in Malaysia.

Huawei nova 8 price in Malaysia

There’s no word on local pricing for the nova 8 in Malaysia just yet but it’s been spotted priced at RUB39,999 in Russia which works out to about RM2,281 though this ought to be taken with a grain of salt as it’s beyond the typical price that a midrange nova series phone would retail for in Malaysia with this hardware specification range

It’s also interesting to note that they’ve been spacing out their launch line-up, seeing as the nova 8i was just launched recently in Malaysia a few weeks back. We’ll keep you posted on update when we get them!
