Honda launches new Civic starting from RM113,800

The tenth incarnation of Honda’s popular Civic sedan gets an overall sprucing up aesthetically and specswise with the launch of not one but three different variants depending on what floats your boat – the 1.8S which retails for RM113,800 (on-the-road with insurance), the 1.5 Turbocharged which costs RM127,800 (OTR with insurance)and the 1.5 Turbocharged Premium which comes with an RM135,800 price tag, again on-the-road with insurance.

The basic Honda Civic 1.8S comes with a 1.8L SOHC i-VTEC engine mated to a CVT gearbox that allows it to deliver 141PS and 174Nm with the ability to go from 0-100km/h in 10.4 seconds.

Externally it comes with 16-inch rims, door handles matched with the body colour, remote engine start, keyless entry and push start, walk-away auto lock, electric parking brake as well as auto brake hold.

Internally, it sports a 7-inch touchscreen entertainment system paired with 8 speakers that lets you pair up your phone for hands-free use.

The driver’s seat is powered and the seats are swathed in fabric while the steering wheel is wrapped in leather. Rear passengers will also appreciate the addition of a rear air conditioning vent nestled between both front seats.Of note on the new Civic is a smart monitoring system that reminds you of when your next oil change is on your speedometer. On the safety front, the new Civic comes with the works – six airbags, vehicle stability, assist, an anti-lock braking system, hill start assist and brake assist.

The Honda Civic 1.5 Turbocharged aka the 1.5TC  beefs up the engine to a 1.5L DOHC VTec Turbo capable of achieving 173PS and 220Nm with the ability to go from 0-100km/h in 8.2 seconds.The Honda Civic 1.5 Turbocharged also has larger 17-inch rims and swaps the internal upholstery with plusher leather seats but has otherwise similar specs in regards to the safety, entertainment and other features.

The top of the line Civic 1.5 Turbocharged Premium aka the 1.5TC-P has a similar engine to the 1.5 Turbocharged but sweetens the deal with LED headlamps and LED fog lamps, chromed door handles, navigation and dual auto air conditioning. All variants of the Honda Civic can be had in one of five different colours – Luna Silver Metallic, White Orchid Pearl, Modern Steel Metallic, Dark Ruby Red Pearl and Crystal Black Pearl. You’re also able to trick out your ride with the Modulo package that adds in a front under spoiler, a side under spoiler, a rear under spoiler and a trunk spoiler for RM4,650. The alternate Urban package adds in sports pedals, an illuminated side step and a wing-style trunk spoiler for RM2,420. The utility package adds in door protector film, door visors, a trunky tray and trunk organiser for RM1,150.
