The new Gorilla Fastback Thunderbolt sounds like a sports car and only 99 exist
The Gorilla Fastback Thunderbolt Chronograph is the first chronograph complication in Gorilla’s line-up with a name akin to a sports car though it fortunately costs much less than one.
What is the Gorilla Fastback Thunderbolt
Made in collaboration with independent Vallée de Joux manufacturer Dubois Dépra, the Gorilla Fastback Thunderbolt is a wonderful example of the master watchmaker’s craft using the finest materials available with liberal use of ultra light and tough titanium alloy in most of its fittings.
An unmistakably distinctive orange and powder blue finish that evokes the flamboyant spirit of motorsport makes the Gorilla Fastback Thunderbolt look like greased lightning when donned, as if it’s ready to shift into gear and strike.
The watch is built around a customised Dubois Dépraz DD-268 skeletonized chronograph module that is powered by a Swiss-made ETA 2892-A2 movement with an hour, minute, small seconds, chronograph with central seconds and minute counter.
For enhanced visibility under challenging light conditions, the numerals, logo and indexes at 3 and 9 o’ clock along with the chronograph function counters and hands are all embellished with luminous X1 Super-Luminova.
To protect the high precision movement from the knocks of daily life and any inadvertent mishaps, the Gorilla Fastback Thunderbolt Chronograph features a case hewn of grade 5 titanium embellished with Fastback’s signature cushion-shaped matte black ceramic bezel. The titanium push-pieces also feature grade 5 titanium crown guards with large start, stop and reset contact points for easy access and superior tactility.
The crystal itself is made of scratch resistant sapphire with an anti-reflective coating while the straps are made of a rubber and Alcantara hybrid finished with a titanium pin buckle.
This combination of superior craftsmanship and materials also ensures that the Gorilla Fastback Thunderbolt is rated for water resistance to 100 meters.

In Malaysia, the Gorilla Fastback Chronograph is now available for preorder from Red Army Watches Malaysia at a price of RM38,000 per watch which is still way less than a sports car.
The nature of its design and its exclusivity mean that it’s understandably limited edition and according to Gorilla, only 99 units will ever be made with each unit individually engraved with its unit number out of the 99 made to indicate its authenticity.
