Galaxy Z Fold3 5G price in Malaysia leaked by Digi

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip made their global debut at Galaxy Unpacked 2021 scarcely a week ago with their US prices revealed though Malaysia prices have yet to be disclosed. Digi has however inadvertently revealed the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G price in Malaysia along with the Galaxy Z Flip3 via their website though the links have since been taken down.

It’s typically common practice for telcos to get earlier access to the pricing of phones ahead of launch though in this case they’ve likely jumped the gun. On the Digi Malaysia website, they’ve revealed that the price of the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G 256GB version is RM6,699 (about US$1,581) while the 512GB version is RM7,199 (about US$1,699). Both the 256GB and 512GB versions will be issued in all three available colourways which are Phantom Black, Phantom Silver and Phantom Green.

Digi also leaked the price of the Galaxy Z Flip3 which is slated to cost RM4,199 for the 256GB version.

At launch last year, the Galaxy Z Fold2 was RM7,999. The intended price of the Galaxy Z Fold3 is substantially lower by RM500 compared to the Fold2 at launch which is a positive step indeed. At launch, the Galaxy Z Flip at launch was RM5,888 with the Fold3 clocking in at RM4,199 which is RM1,689 cheaper. Now, that’s progress!

If you’re Stateside, this translates to US$1,581 for the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G 256GB version which is US$208 cheaper than the listed US$1,799 launch price though the difference in price is on account of a host of factors including taxes and a host of other ancillary costs – it does cost a pretty penny to market a phone after all.

In the case of the Galaxy Z Flip3 256GB, Digi revealed that it costs RM4,199 though we weren’t able to ascertain what colourways it has available for purchase but if it follows the official Unpacked launch, you’ll have access to Cream, Green, Lavender and Phantom Black. This translates to US$991 which is a few bucks off the US$999 launch price.

Before Stateside readers get any bright ideas on side-importing a unit from Southeast Asia, do bear in mind that you won’t get any warranty support if you ship it back to the Land of the Free and you’ll have to contend with the usual local region lockout which requires you to make a voice call using a local SIM for several minutes.
