Samsung upgrades workhorse Galaxy A51 smartphone with 8GB RAM for RM1,399

Launched earlier this year alongside the larger Galaxy A71, the Samsung Galaxy A51 was intended as a workhorse design with a decent array of specifications and a modest price tag. Now, Samsung is issuing a slightly more powerful, upgunned version of the Galaxy A51 with 8GB RAM, which is 2GB more than what the original released model had for RM100 more.

The upgunned Galaxy A51 is otherwise identical to the model released earlier this year save for the aforementioned increase to 8GB RAM versus 6GB in the original model. This increase in RAM allows for improved performance, faster app switching and a bit more overhead when performing more intensive tasks.

The rest of the hardware for both models consists of a 6.5-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display, an Exyonos 9611 octacore processor and 128GB of storage. The rear comes with a quad camera array centered around a primary 48-MP F/2.0 camera, a secondary 12-MP F/2.2 ultrawide angle camera, a 5-MP depth sensor and a 5-MP F/2.4 macro camera. The front hosts a 32-MP F/2.2 selfie camera. Keeping things juiced is a 4,000mAh battery.

In Malaysia, the upgraded Galay A51 8GB comes in your choice of three colours – Prism Crush Black, Prism Crush White and Prism Crush Blue – and an RM1,399 price tag.
