The BMW Shorties is Malaysia’s longest running and most prestigious short film competition for digital content creators but things are being taken up a notch as Xiaomi will be the official smartphone partner in the 2021 BMW Shorties.
Xiaomi’s participation in the BMW Shorties, now in its 15th year, as the official smartphone partner is timely as the competition kicks off with a new ‘Mobile Filmmaking Award’ category where filmmakers and content creators shoot their masterpieces solely using a smartphone.
This new award is serendipitous seeing as Xiaomi has just debuted their Mi 11 phone in Malaysia. K.M. Leong, General Manager for Southeast Asia of Xiaomi International, said, “Xiaomi’s innovative technology through our smartphones aims to unleash the creative potential within our users. Mi 11 turns any novice photo and video enthusiast into a film director with its studio-grade camera features and pro performance. It is easy to bring your stories to life with Mi 11’s 108MP triple camera, cutting-edge video night mode technology and AI cinema features.”
“With digitalization being at the forefront for the BMW Group worldwide, we at BMW Group Malaysia are pleased to be able to work hand in hand with fellow digital and technology experts Xiaomi to provide our local filmmakers and digital content creators of the BMW Shorties access to the latest technology and innovation that will enable them to raise their creative game. The new Mi 11 with its pocket-sized movie studio and triple rear camera setup is a great companion for the BMW Shorties – and we hope these tools will help our content creators express creatively, on the go,” says Sashi Ambi, Head of Corporate Communications at BMW Group Malaysia.
