Xiaomi’s RM999 Mi Max phablet lands in Malaysia

Following the launch of the Mi 5 in Malaysia, Xiaomi’s just unleashed their next phone for the local market that’s a real whopper. Literally so. Bordering on the size of a tablet, the new Mi Max has a 6.44-inch 1080p display with 342PPI sheathed in Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

The massive display is powered by a Snapdragon 650 1.8Ghz hexa-core processor paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB of expandable memory supplemented by a hybrid SIM card. The rear sports a fingerprint reader along with a 16-MP f/2.0 snapper with PDAF while the front has a 5-MP f/2.0 selfie camera. The rear is able to capture 1080P video while the front is able to snag 720P video as well as slow-mo footage at 120fps. Connectivity is Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac with MU-MIMO support. A mammoth 4,850mAh battery keeps the whole affair easily powered through the day and beyond. All this is crammed into a slim 7.5mm thin body that weighs 203g. This should look like the idea phone to play any manner of game including Pokemon Go as well as for video and other content consumption duties seeing its massive display and mammoth battery.
