Western Digital’s beefs up their wireless WD Pro storage solutions

Backing up data be it pics, videos text documents and the like is usually a chore that requires a lot of legwork. Unfortunately, losing it due to a mishap is even worse. Western Digital’s new WD Pro Series of storage solutions aims to lighten that onerous burden by making it a darned lot easier by throwing in wireless connectivity all around via their new My Cloud mobile app for iOS and Android that lets you push content up in a swift fashion. The new WD Pro series consists of their new My Passport Wireless Pro mobile Wi-Fi storage drive and their My Cloud Pro Series NAS device.

Via the built-in Wi-Fi direct connection, you are able to save and transfer material to and from up to eight other devices connected to the My Passport Wireless Pro drive and the drive also has an SD card reader and a USB port if you want to transfer data in the traditional fashion. A built-in 6,400mAh battery keeps it juiced for up to ten hours in the field. The My Passport Wireless Pro drive is also seamlessly compatible with Adobe’s Creative Cloud, a handy feature to have for content creators and can be had in up to a 3TB size that costs RM1,099.

Higher up on the totem pole is the My Cloud Pro Series NAS that has a one-button back-up option with the ability to cram in up to 32TB of storage, depending on which subvariant and how many bays it has with anything from two bays and up. The bay itself costs RM1,759 for the two-bay diskless NAS while WD hard disks retail for RM2,699 for the 4TB version, RM3,279 for the 8TB version, RM4,229 for the 12TB version and RM4,599 for the 16TB version. The 4-bay variant of the NAS retails for RM2,589 sans hard disks and costs up to RM7,999 for a 32TB hard drive, RM7,699 for a 24TB hard drive and RM5,749 for a 16TB hard drive.
