Toyota Classics 2018 to bring exquisite Orchestra of The Age of Enlightenment to Malaysia

It has been said that music is a universal language. Toyota is aiming to use the power of music to build bridges and aid the underprivileged with the latest chapter of their annual Toyota Classics orchestral performance, dubbed Toyota Classics 2018 that seeks to raise funds for a socio-economic programme that will aid the Orang Asli community and research on renewable energy sources with two of Malaysia’s best universities.

For the uninitiated, the Toyota Classics is a musical charity event by UMW Toyota Motor and Toyota Motor Corporation that is an annual affair for close to three decades since its inception in 1990 in Malaysia. For this year, the Toyota Classics 2018 will take place on 13 November 2018 at the Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS, KLCC and feature the internationally renowned Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment from London.

Named after one of the brightest and most innovative periods of European history, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment is a period instrument orchestra that seeks to recreate the beauty and brilliance of the original performance with a series of instruments tuned and made to emulate the instruments used during that time period. The orchestra is lead by conductor Steven Devine who has directed a repertoire of a wide range of groups from 16th century polyphony to new commissions.

Proceeds from ticket sales and donations from the concert will go towards the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) “Mobilising Youth for Sustainable Change” initiative that aims to empower the Orang Asli community via the creation of an Eco Village Resort Project. Another portion of the proceeds will also go towards Universiti Malaya’s Power Energy Dedicated Advance Centre that researches solutions for renewable energy to offer high efficiency, low cost Solar Photovoltaic Thermal (PV/T) cooling systems so as to allow communities in isolated areas access to a regular, reliable supply of electricity.

Tickets for the Toyota Classics 2018 are prices at RM100, RM150, RM200 and RM250 and will be available for purchase from 5 September 2018 at Box Office, Dewan Filharmonik Petronas and bookings can also be made from www.toyota.com.my
