The classy new Peugeot 408 e-THP rolls into town

Nasim Sdn Bhd today took the tarps off their new executive sedan, the Peugeot 408 e-THP. The car sports the rather memorably named EP6FDTM engine that delivers 165hp@6000RPM and 245Nm@1,400RPM torque while an electronic multipoint injection system that improves engine efficiency ensures excellent mileage at 6.5l/100km. If you put pedal to the metal, the Peugeot 408 e-THP is able to go from 0 to 100km/h in 8.2 seconds. Paired with the new powertrain is a new six-speed automatic AISIN gearbox that aims to offer smoother, swifter gear changing for a better ride.

Externally, the 408 e-THP has a muscular, manly looking silhouette with LED directional indicators and Peugeot’s signature LED tail lamps. Internally, the Peugeot sports what they call an i-Cockpit design that blends both good looks, ergonomics and tech in equal measure.The steering wheel is covered in leather with satin chrome inserts and the Peugeot marque in the centre along with adjustable height and reach. A 9.7-inch HD touchscreen in the middle of the dashboard gives access to manage the two-zone air conditioning and to keep an eye on the reverse camera display when you’re parking your ride.

Other tech enhanced treats include the Blind Spot Information Sensor or, as they aptly call it, BLISS which uses a series of sensors to give you a heads-up if a car approaches your blind spot for safer lane changing. Another novel piece of tech is Smart Park Assist II which aims to make parking a lot easier and much less painful for neophytes.

Other mod-cons include keyless entry, a generous 565-litre boot along with two adaptive front and six airbags for enhanced protection. The new 408 e-THP comes in six different colours – Alpine White, Aluminium, Premium Black, Aster Grey, Bourrasque Blue and Lucifer Red for RM143,888 with insurance.
