Sony launches Z9D series 4K HDR TVs in Malaysia

Sony has just added a new range of  4K High Dynamic Range (HDR) with a bevy of additional imaging tech to their extensive line-up spearheaded by their spiffy Z9D series 4K HDR TVs. The new Z9D TVs come with a significantly beefed up image processor that Sony has dubbed as the “4K HDR Processor X1 Extreme” that is a step above the current gen X1 4K processor that offers, as their boffins put it, significantly enhanced clarity, colour accuracy and contrast for 4K, 4K HDR and HD videos with about 40% improvement over the prior X1 4K model.

If you’re wont to delve into the details, the 4K HDR Processor X1 Extreme processor integrates their HDR remaster tech, dual database processing and Super Bit Mapping 4K HDR tech for smoother images onscreen; the end result is that images, colours and detail appear much sharper by tamping down noise significantly and enhancing data and image resolution.

The Z9D series TVs also have Sony’s Backlight Master Drive tech which was introduced earlier this year at CES 2016 along with their X-tended Dynamic Range PRO tech that deliver deeper blacks and brighter whites onscreen. This is combined with their existing Triluminos imaging tech that enhances colour accuracy and their X-Reality PRO tech that enhances played content.

Like Sony’s other TVs, the Z9D series runs on Android TV so you can enjoy the usual cornucopia of content that you’d expect on the platform. The Z9D series comes in your choice of 65-inch and 75-inch sizes, which come at RM23,999 and RM29,999 respectively. A 100-inch Z9D variant will be available in Q1 2017 though no price has been announced as yet.

If the Z9D series is a bit too rich for your tastes, Sony also offers the X93D series of slim 4K HDR TVs that also integrate their Slim Backlight Drive tech akin to their Z9D series but lacks the beefed up 4K HDR Processor X1 Extreme imaging tech and their Backlight Master Drive tech for a more compact yet efficient Slim Backlight Drive. Blacks and hues aren’t as deep as the Z9D series but it’s still a lush sight to behold. The 65-inch variant retails for RM19,999 while the 55-inch variant retails for RM9,999.
