Sharp launches midrange Z2 and M1 smartphones in Malaysia

While Sharp is best known for making tellies, they are actually dab hands at making smartphones too though they don’t usually ship their phones to this corner of the globe. Until now that is. Distributor Commtiva Technology today announced that they’re launching two midrange Android phones – the Sharp Z2 and the Sharp M1.

Sharp Z2
The Sharp Z2 comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display, a MediaTek MT6797 decacore processor, 4GB RAM and 32GB ROM expandable via a micro SD card slot. The rear comes with a 16-MP camera with phase detection autofocus while the front has an 8-MP camera with an F/1.8 lens for better selfies. Perched just below the Z2’s camera is a fingerprint reader. A 3,000mAh battery keeps it powered and the phone comes in your choice of gold or silver for RM1,199.

Sharp M1
The Sharp M1 comes with a similarly sized 5.5-inch Full HD display but has a slightly more modest Mediatek MT6753 1.3GHz octacore processor, 3GB RAM but larger onboard storage – 64GB versus the Z2’s 32GB that is also expandable via a microSD card slot. ms1-pink-0804-70Both front and rear cameras are 13-MP though the built-in battery has a smaller 2,600mAh capacity and it also lacks a fingerprint reader unlike the Z2. The M1 comes in Hanayome White and Pure Pink for RM899.
