Having made their early debut at the IFA tradeshow in Berlin this year, the Gear Fit2 Pro, Gear IconX and Gear Sport are wearables with a distinct fitness oriented bent that have just landed in Malaysia.
The Gear Sport looks like a somewhat less chunkier version of their manlier Gear S3 Frontier and comes with a rounded 1.2-inch Super AMOLED display with a rounded bezel that lets you get about the menus in addition to tough MIL-STD810G proofing that renders it drop proof and waterproof in up to 50 metres of water.
Where it gets its fitness oriented chops is that it includes an underside heart rate tracker and the ability to intuitively track not just the usual walking and running but even cycling and swimming too. It’s also compatible with Samsung Pay to boot. It ships in your choice of either black or blue with a matching strap for RM1,299.
The Gear Fit2 Pro is a more unconventional looking fitness wearable with a 1.5-inch Super AMOLED rectangular display that also has phenomenal endurance rated at about four days or so on a single charge. On top of that, the Gear Fit2 Pro also comes with water resistance to 50 metres of water as well as similar drop proofing as the Gear Sport. Like its more rounded sibling, the Gear Fit2 Pro also as an underside heart rate tracker and can keep an eye on running, cycling, walking and doing laps in the pool too. It comes in your choice of black or red for RM799
The Samsung Gear IconX is a revamped version of their earlier offering that was released last year and comes with significantly enhanced battery life which we had the pleasure to experience in the course of our review while having similar wireless connectivity and exceptional portability. Each earbud can work independently of the other and has 4GB of onboard storage and a pleasingly long 8 hours of battery life on a single juicing though you can plop it back into its carrying case to get another full charge. While it lets you listen to music as well as make or take calls, the IconX also has an integrated fitness coach app that walks you through a series of selectable exercises that let you pick your level of fitness from a leisurely walk to something more strenous. The Gear Icon X comes in your choice of black, grey or pink for for RM799.
The Gear Sport and IconX will be available from 1 December onwards while the Gear Fit2 Pro is already available nationwide. With every purchase of a Gear Sport from 1 to 31 December, customers will get two free gear straps each worth RM198 along with a Limited Edition Collector’s Box worth RM299 while stocks.
