Samsung debuts 2016 line-up of SUHD TVs in Malaysia

groupSamsung’s latest enhanced line-up of tellies for 2016 made their official debut in Malaysia at KLCC yesterday at the main concourse area. The new generation of SUHD TV’s are LED-backlit LCDs that incorporate a raft of both new and refined tech to render up some of the slickest images yet served on a telly.

The new range of SUHD TVs all sport Samsung’s new Quantum dot tech for superb colour rendition. Depending on mode, many of the new TV line-up also sport what they call Ultra Black panel tech; essentially a unique laminate on the TV panel itself that mitigates and absorbs the vast majority of reflections that hit the TV’s panel to deliver some superbly deep blacks onscreen while sundry other improvements offer up a 1,000 Nit HDR for superior image contrast onscreen.

All of the new generation of Samsung tellies also all sport their own home-brewed Tizen OS running under the hood. It ditches some of the more experimental stuff seen in previous generations like hand gesture commands and the like and instead prioritises customisability and ease of use. The new Tizen-equipped SUHD TVs are able to recognise and handle any hardware plugged into it be it consoles, OTT boxes or Blu-ray players and let you connect and control them accordingly with the provided Smart Control remote rather than having to fiddle about with half a dozen different remotes when you’re watching something on your SUHD TV. Like the previous generation of TVs, the new range all sport most of their ports and connectivity in a One Connect box that’s separate from the main unit to retain the slimness of the display.

In terms of size, the line-up in Malaysia is lead by the absolutely mammoth 88-inch curved UA88KS9800 series SUHD TV that retails for just a princely RM99,999.  If your home isn’t of suitably palatial proportions you can opt for the slightly more compact 78-inch UA78KS9000 series curved SUHD TV for RM39,999 or the 65-inch UA65KS9000 curved SUHD TV for 21,999. If you’re on a budget, you can opt for the entry level 49-inch flatscreen UA49KS7000 SUHD TV for RM5,999. In the middle are SUHD TVs in 55-inch and 60-inch denominations.
