Realme 2, Realme 2 Pro set to enter the fray in Malaysia market

The Malaysia smartphone market now has a new contender entering the fray soon in the form of smartphone vendor Realme who, hot off their Jakarta debut a few hours ago, will be releasing two budget phones for the Malaysia market dubbed the Realme 2 and the Realme 2 Pro.

The Realme 2 has a 6.2-inch notched display with 1,520 x 720 pixel resolution and a generous 19:9  aspect ratio. The phone runs Android Oreo 8.1 overlaid with OPPO’s ColorOS 5.1 user interface on a Snapdragon 450 1.8GHz octacore paired with either 3GB RAM/32GB of storage or 4GB RAM/64GB of storage.

The rear comes with a 13-MP + 2-MP dual camera array with up to 1080P video capture and an AI Beauty mode while the front sports an 8-MP camera. Keeping the whole affair powered is a 4,230mAh battery. The Realme 2 comes in your choice of Diamond Red, Diamond Blue or Diamond Black though which colours are coming to Malaysia have not been confirmed yet at this point in time.

The Realme 2 Pro is the more powerful, better specced sibling of the lot. It comes with a 6.3-inch FHD+ touchscreen with a dewdrop-shaped notched cut in the front to offer a larger 90.8% screen-to-body ratio. Under the hood, the phone runs Android 8.1 on a Snapdragon 660 octacore processor with three storage/RAM configurations depending on region – 6GB RAM/64GB storage, 4GB RAM/64GB storage and 8GB RAM /128GB storage.

The rear dual 16-MP camera array comes with several tempting features that include a bright f/1.7 aperture, a 6P lens and the ability to capture 4K@30fps video. The front consists of a single 16-MP f/2.0 selfie camera. Keeping things running is a 3,500mAh battery with their AI Power Master battery management tech. At launch, the Realme 2 Pro comes in Black Sea, Blue Ocean and Ice Lake though which colours are coming to Malaysia remain to be seen.

Both the Realme 2 and Realme 2 Pro are slated to come to Malaysia sometime soon in a matter of weeks though which colours and storage variants has yet to be announced. Based on the official website, the Realme 2 Pro retails with prices starting from ₹13,990 which works out to about RM784 while the Realme 2 has prices starting from ₹8,990 which is about RM503. Local prices ought to fall within these ranges, give or take a few dozen bucks or so. We’ll keep you lot out there appraised of the situation.
