Razer is perhaps one of the best loved brands among gamers and one of the most distinctive with its neon green snake triskelion logo becoming a defining hallmark for quality gaming hardware. They’ve expanded from making just mice, keyboards and headphones to gaming notebooks like the eponymous Razer Blade and even phones including one of the first purpose-built gaming phones in the form of the first Razer Phone though the Blade and Razer Phone weren’t officially available in Malaysia when they first made their debut a while back. Fortunately, Razer is bringing in their latest incarnation of the gaming phone writ large, the Razer Phone 2 to Malaysia today.
The phone is built from the ground up to tackle any mobile game. Externally, it comes in their iconic black finish with their snake triskelion symbol on a backplate sheathed in glass and sports some seriously impressive hardware. The Razer Phone 2, befitting its gamer sensibilities also has Chroma RGB lighting on the aforementioned snake triskelion symbol and has an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance to boot.
Under the hood, the Razer Phone 2 has a 5.7-inch HDR-ready IGZO panel with 1440×2560 resolution and a whopping 120Hz refresh rate; necessary for FPS mobile shooters like Fortnite and PUBG. Paired with this is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 2.8GHz processor that has a custom vapour chamber cooling system to keep it running even under intensive loads complemented by 8GB RAM and 64GB of expandable storage via a microSD card.
Audio on the Razer Phone 2 is dialled up to 11 as it has a pair wordpress of front-facing stereo speakers, each of which comes with an amp and Dolby Atmos support to offer excellent clarity and directional audio. The phone has a rear dual 12-MP camera array with dual PDAF and one camera sporting an F/1.75 aperture and OIS with the other sporting an F/2.6 telephoto lens. The front sports an 8-MP f/2.0 selfie camera, with the rear cameras capable of 4K video capture and the front 1080p video.
A 4,000mAh battery that’s rated for ten hours of usage with the display set at a 90Hz refresh rate with Qualcomm QuickCharge 4.0 tech allows it exceptional endurance and fast charging in the field. The Razer Phone 2 also has wireless charging too to round things off.
All this makes it an exceptional package for gaming and if your pockets run deep, it is now available in Malaysia for RM3,449 at leading e-tailers Lazada and Shopee as well as leading in-store retailers.
In Malaysia, the Razer Phone 2 is also available with plans from Maxis and U Mobile. Via Maxis, you can opt to get it on their Zerolution plan from as low as RM101 on the MaxisONE Plan 188.
