Parrot unleashes flock of pro and recreational drones. Ride of the Valkyries ensues.

Local distributor TJM today launched a quartet of Parrot drones – the Disco FPV, the Bebop 2 FPV, the Swing and the Mambo. Out of the four, the Disco FPV and Bebop 2 FPV are designed for serious camera work while the Swing and Mambo are designed for more casual recreational use.

Parrot Disco FPV
The Parrot Disco FPV is an ultralight fixed wing drone with a 14-MP camera with optical image stabilisation mounted on the nose capable of capturing 1080P video while 32GB of internal memory lets you take quite a bit of video footage in a single sortie. The built-in 2,700mAh battery offers about 45 minutes of flight time and a maximum range of 1.24 miles. It also ships with a headset that allows you to fly it in a virtual first person fashion in tandem with a dedicated controller that pairs up with your smartphone to act as a live feed. It retails for RM6,999.

Bebop 2 FPV
The Bebop 2 FPV comes with a similar camera as the Disco FPV – 14-MP with OIS and the ability to snag 1080P video but adopts a more traditional quadcopter setup combined with a similar headset and controls to let you fly it in a first person fashion. The built-in battery offers 25 minutes of battery life with a maximum distance of up to 1.24 miles away. The Bebop 2 FPV ships with the headset and the controller for RM4,199.

Parrot Swing
The Parrot Swing is a hybrid design with ultra light wings in the shape of a Star Wars X-Wing starfighter, or a Babylon 5 Starfury if you’re of that generation. Incorporating concepts similar to a quadcopter, the Swing comes with autopilot and the ability to take off and land vertically. The plane has a maximum speed of 18.64MPH and pairs up with your phone so you can use it as a HUD when flying it around, presumably with you making ‘pew pew’ sounds as you reenact the Trench Run. It retails for RM749 and comes with a controller.

Parrot Mambo
The Parrot Mambo is a palm-sized quadcopter that comes with two optional configurable payloads. You’re able to attach a small six-round foam pellet gun or carry a small grabber that can tote around objects up to 4g in weight like pieces of paper or whatnot. Like the Swing, the Mambo is controlled from your smartphone which acts as a controller and HUD. It retails for RM649 though it lacks a controller, with you controlling it via a paired smartphone.
