New Westworld season 2 trailer reveals more of the host-pocalypse

HBO have shared another trailer with more tantalising details for Westworld season 2.

For the uninitiated, the show is a reboot of the original movie from the 70’s that featured lifelike robots called hosts who populate a theme park for rich, morally uninhibited hedonists. Naturally, things go predictably south in the rebooted series with several of the hosts gaining sentience and kicking off a robot er…host rebellion which is where the season 1 cliffhanger finale left us.

The initial parts of the trailer have Bernard Lowe (Jeffrey Right) waking up on a sea shore to the tune of a strange monologue. Then you see Bernard walking amidst a modern looking encampment full of troops dressed like modern-day special forces operators.

Rogue host Dolores Abernathy (Evan Rachel Wood) makes quite a few appearances in the new trailer in a seemingly disjointed montage as she rides a robotic horse, wanders through a sweet looking library and interrogates some hapless sod on his knees.

Another clip shows the aforementioned spec-ops troops in combat formation walking through the aftermath of the season 1 finale as stiffs both host and human lie everywhere.

Series regulars William aka The Man in Black (Ed Harris) and Maeve Millay (Thandie Newton) also make appearances with short monologues.

The most interesting reveal though is more of Samurai World, another region of hosts themed on the Sengoku era in medieval Japan with samurai aplenty. Maeve makes an appearance in a kimono, suggesting that Westworld’s cast will likely be making an appearance there in some form or fashion.

It’s all too short to offer conclusive ideas as to where the plot for season 2 is heading but there’s not long now to wait. Westworld season 2 will consist of ten episodes and will debut the same time as the U.S on Monday, April 23 at 9.00AM with an encore on the same day at 10.00PM on HBO (Astro Ch 411/431 HD) and also via HBO On Demand (through Astro GO).
