Both the X1 and X1 Max come with a machined aluminium casing sporting gently curved edges and the subtle chamfering that’s in vogue with current design trends.

The X1 clocks in at a svelte 2.95mm thinness at its thinnest point and the slightly larger X1 Max is even thinner at 2.75mm as the edges curve down to make it easier to hold.

One interesting addition that both phones have that other competitors do not is the inclusion of a mute button inset into the power button which has knurling on top for better tactility. As you’d surmise, whamming it down mutes whatever content you want silenced. This ought to come in handy.

Both phones sport a 13-MP rear camera with an F/2.0 lens, dual tone flash, PDAF with a nippy 0.2 second autofocus time and a Sony IMX 258 sensor along with a front-facing 5-MP sensor. Perched just beneath the rear camera is a fingerprint sensor with a 0.2 second unlock time.

The X1 sports a 5-inch 720P 293ppi display with a MediaTek Helio P10 octacore processor which has 4 Cortex-A53 1.8GHz processors and 4 Cortex-A53 processors running at 1.0GHz paired with an ARM-Mali-T860 550MHz CPU. It also sports the now obligatory hybrid SIM cardslot. Keeping it all powered is a 2,250mAh battery. It ships in Malaysia in two different colours as well as two different storage configurations: 2GB RAM and 16GB storage as well as a 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage. Of note is that the phone supports VoLTE networks like YES YTL.

As you’d likely surmise from the nomenclature, the X1 Max is the larger sibling of the X1 and otherwise packs a similar front and rear camera array and identical P10 octacore processor but has a larger 5.5-inch 1080p display, a slightly larger 3000mAh battery with fast charging support and comes in two different storage options in two different colours: 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage and the larger 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage.
