Mobikes now available in Cyberjaya

Mobike’s bright orange and silver bikes for rent are becoming a common sight in certain parts of the Klang Valley though they have just expanded their presence in a big way in Cyberjaya. In partnership with Cyberview Sdn Bhd and supported by the Sepang Municipal Council, Mobike’s bike-sharing service aims to add another avenue for users to get around in town. Mastercard is also supporting Mobike’s expansion by integrating their Masterpass digital payment service with Mobike’s phone app.

New users can register with a one-time refundable deposit of RM99 and then enjoy rides on any of the ubiquitously located Mobikes located all around town and Cyberjaya with a low rate of RM1.50 for every 30 minutes of usage. Currently, users can sign up at a promotion rate of RM9 versus the RM99 full deposit rate and even enjoy a free month of services in October too. Unlocking and using a Mobike is a doddle via their app which can be downloaded on the Google Play store or the iPhone app store.

The bikes themselves are pretty cool examples of technology that are purpose-built with chainless shaft transmission, non-puncture airless tires, disc brakes and five-spoked wheels along with a GPS-embedded smart lock. “Our smart bike-share service has been designed to improve the liveability of local communities in Malaysia by providing an outstanding bike-share experience to our users and the municipality itself. Cyberjaya is recognised as a model for the development of smart cities in Malaysia, and we are pleased to be working with local businesses to advance the township’s transformation into a Global Tech Hub. In addition, our partnership with Mastercard and Cyberview complements Malaysia’s five-year development plan, a key focus of which is building sustainable cities,” says Sanjey Chandran, Country Manager of Mobike Malaysia.
