Streaming content purveyor iflix today announced the premiere of a somewhat quaint but charming local production dubbed Cupid Co. by Studio2:15.

The short-form six-parter Cupid Co. is the sum efforts of a pitch earlier this year where iflix opened up tenders from local content creators for an original mini series. Macam Yes Studios’ novel proposal, which features local Malaysian actors is written and directed by Brian Lee and Ernest Ng, with Dan Khoo as co-director and executive producer.

The original story talks a cupid named Tim (Michael Lean) who, against a divine bureaucracy, makes deuteragonist and female lead Michelle (Michelle Leong) fall in love with him. Naturally, all this leads to all manner of interesting hijinks with the powers that be. The show also stars Malaysian talents Bruce (Dennis Yin), Director Evans (Amanda Ang) Eugene (Tanesh) and Matt (Ernest Ng).

Craig Galvin, Head of Studio2:15 talked about the creation of the show, ”This collaboration marks iflix’s first endeavour in creating short-form content. We are thrilled to partner with one of Malaysia’s finest and most acclaimed home-grown content creators, whilst giving them a whole new work platform to expand their talent and creativity.”

He adds, ”The vision underscores iflix’s commitment to work closely with creator communities, developing localised content that appeals to our local audiences. Mobile users are the driving force in internet viewing, and Cupid Co. is the first of many projects lined up for release in the next few months as part of Studio2:15. We are pleased to premiere Cupid Co. exclusively on flix for free to anyone in Malaysia, regardless of their subscription status.”

Cupid Co consists of six episodes that each run between 12-20 minutes per episode. The series now available to stream and download for free exclusively on www.iflix.com
