The Predator Helios 500 is built from the ground up to be a serious gaming rig that can tackle any triple-A gaming title and it shows in every aspect of its design. It comes with a 17.3-inch IPS display in your choice of either Ultra HD (3,840 x 2,160) or Full HD (1,920 x 1080) resolution with Radeon FreeSync support, up to a 2nd gen AMD Ryzen 7 2700 octacore, 16-thread processor and AMD Radeon RX Vega graphics. Keeping the whole affair cool is Acer’s unique AeroBlade 3D metal fans along with 5 heat pipes to vent heat efficiently out of the chassis. All this gaming hardware makes it tips the scales at about 4KG in carry weight alone. Still, it’ll help you work on those abs when you haul it around to your next LAN party. The Predator Helios 500 will hit stores in the United States first in August with prices starting from US$2,199 (about RM8,800) and China starting at RMB25,999 (about RM16,158).

Last but not least, Acer also announced the Nitro 50 desktop gaming PC that acts as an affordable alternative to get in on gaming. Rather than the matte black and neon blue finish of the Predator series, the Nitro 50 strikes a black finish with metallic crimson trim. In terms of hardware, the Nitro 50 can be equipped with up to a second generation AMD Ryzen 7 2700X processor, AMD Radeon RX 580 GPUs or up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 GPUs with options to cram in up to a 512GB SSD and a 3TB hard disk. It also has a Qi wireless charging pad that lets you charge a compatible phone by placing it on the casing. The Nitro 50 will arrive in the United States first with prices starting from US$899 (about RM3,597). There’s no word on when these Acer rigs will land in Malaysia and in what configuration but we’ll keep you posted. For more details on Acer hardware swing by www.acer.com.my
