Acer’s latest Predator Helios 300 and new notebook line-up redefine cool

Acer Malaysia today officially rolled out their latest line-up of gaming and productivity rigs spearheaded by their exceptionally powerful Predator Helios 300 gaming rig.

The Predator Helios 300 comes with the aggressive lines and bold red trim common to the Predator series. The Helios 300 integrates a 15.6-inch IPS Full HD display, an Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX1060 GPU, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, a 256GB SSD along with a 1TB hard disk drive and a pair of built-in speakers beefed up by Acer’s TrueHarmony tech for clearer sound and beefier bass.

The Helios 300 has the notable ability to be overclocked with just the press of a button without having to tweak around with BIOS or whatnot via their PredatorSense app. What makes it really stand out though is that it uses their superior new AeroBlade 3D cooling fans that are made of metal, incorporate revolutionary engineering techniques that  improve air flow by 35% for superior cooling, allowing for a longer, better gaming experience. The Predator Helios 300 retails for RM5,999.

Another gaming notebook in the launch line-up was their aptly named Nitro 5. The rig comes with a 15.6-inch Full HD display, 4GB RAM, either an Intel Core i5-7300HQ or an i7-7700HQ processor, either a 1TB hard disk or a 128GB SSD with a 1TB hard disk and either an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 or GeForce GTX 1050Ti GPU. It also comes with their CoolBoost cooling tech that spins the fans faster during heavy use and uses it in a more efficient fashion to ensure a consistent 11% drop in overall temperature for the GPU and CPU.

Acer Nitro 5

 

 

The Nitro 5 with an Intel Core i5 and a 1TB hard disk retails for RM3,299 while the Nitro 5 with a n Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor and a combo 1TB hard disk and 128GB SSD retails for RM4,699.

Mobile workers who need a light productivity device will appreciate Acer’s revamped Switch 5 that comes with a detachable magnetic keyboard and stylus along with Windows Hello authentication via a fingerprint reader. The Switch 5 comes in two configurations that differ based on the processor and storage. You have a 12-inch FHD+ touch screen with 2,160 x 1,440 pixel resolution, either an i7-7500U or an i5-7200U processor, 8GB RAM, Intel HD graphics and either a 256GB or 512GB SSD.

The stylus itself has palm rejection tech and 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity and the rear kickstand on the Switch 5 is spring loaded so that you can push it down or up with just one press of a finger and it will stay in position. The Switch 5 with an i5 processor and 256GB SSD retails for RM3,999 while the i7 with 512GB retails for RM4,999.

The Acer U27 All-in-one also made an appearance at the launch. Rather than having a separate CPU housing, everything is integrated into the back of the display to make it elegantly slim and free of the usual tangle of wires festooning a desktop PC.

The U27 sports a tiltable 27-inch Full HD multi-touch display, has an Intel Core i6-7500U processor, 8GB DDR4 RAM, Intel HD graphics 620,a 256GB M.2 PCI-E SSD, a 1TB hard disk along with Windows Hello authentication. It also ships with a free wireless keyboard and mouse. All this clocks in at RM6,499.
